Managing Projects

In AutoAllocate, a Project is a dedicated workspace designed to solve a specific allocation problem. Whether you are assigning markers to exam papers or staff to shifts, projects keep your configurations organized and secure.

What is a Project?

A project is a complete set of definitions tailored to your unique task. It includes:

  • Custom Labels: Rename "Resources" and "Targets" to fit your industry terminology (e.g., "Markers" and "Assignments").
  • Attributes: Define the specific characteristics of your resources and targets that matter for the allocation.
  • Rules: The logic and constraints that the solver must respect.
  • Data Links: Secure references to the resource and target data stored locally in your browser, ensuring your sensitive information never leaves your machine.

The Projects Overview Page

The Projects Overview page is your central dashboard for managing multiple allocation tasks. Each project is represented by a card displaying its title.

Key Features and Actions:

1. Create a New Project

Start from a blank canvas. This allows you to define every aspect of your allocation problem from scratch, including your own custom labels and rules.

2. Industry Templates

To help you get started quickly, you can select from various Industry Templates. These templates come pre-configured with common labels, attributes, and rules for specific use cases (e.g., Education, Logistics, Healthcare).

  • Detailed templates and examples will be added here in future updates.

3. Load Demo Data

If you are evaluating AutoAllocate or want to experiment with complex rule configurations, use the Load Demo Data button. This instantly populates a project with sample resources and targets, allowing you to see the solver in action immediately.

4. Open Project

Click the Open Project button on any card to access the Project Details and begin refining your allocation.
