Project Overview & Customization

The Overview Tab is the control center for your project. Here, you can monitor project health, manage data privacy, and tailor the terminology and attributes to your specific industry.

1. Key Metrics

At a glance, you can see the scale of your allocation problem:

  • Number of Resources: Total items being assigned to.
  • Number of Targets: Total items being assigned.
  • Number of Rules: Total active constraints governing the solver.

2. Privacy & Anonymization

AutoAllocate is designed with a "Security First" mindset. Under the Privacy & Anonymization section, you can control how sensitive data is handled:

  • Anonymization (Enabled by Default): When enabled, the names of your resources and targets are masked locally before the solver runs. This is critical when your resources or targets are people (e.g., staff, students, patients) to ensure GDPR compliance.
  • Disabling Anonymization: If your resources and targets are "things" (e.g., rooms, equipment, vehicles), you may choose to disable this feature for easier identification in the results.

3. Customize Labels

To make the software speak your language, you can replace the generic "Resources" and "Targets" labels.

  • Singular Terms: Enter the singular version of your terminology (e.g., "Freelancer" instead of Resource, "Task" instead of Target).
  • The application will automatically update headers and buttons throughout the project to reflect these labels.

4. Custom Attributes

Attributes are the building blocks of intelligent allocation. They allow you to define the characteristics used by the Rules engine to find the perfect match.

Why use Attributes?

If you are allocating Student Submissions to Markers, simple capacity isn't enough. You need to ensure the marker has the right expertise.

  • Example: Markers have an attribute for "Subject Specialism" and Submissions have a "Subject" attribute. You can then create a rule requiring these to match.
  • Conflict of Interest: You can also use attributes to ensure things do not match (e.g., ensuring a marker is not assigned their own student's work).

Managing Attributes

To add a new attribute for either Resources or Targets:

  1. Enter a descriptive Name (e.g., "Skill Level", "Language", "Shift Date").
  2. Select the Type:
    • Text: For categories, skills, or labels.
    • Number: For scores, levels, or years of experience.
    • Date Range: For availability or deadlines. (Note: See our detailed guide on Date Attributes for more advanced usage).
  3. Click Add.

To Remove an Attribute: Click the "x" next to the attribute name and confirm the deletion. Note that removing an attribute will also remove any rules that rely on it.
