User Interface Guide

This guide provides an overview of the AutoAllocate interface, helping you navigate the application and manage your allocation projects effectively.

1. Login

Access AutoAllocate by signing in with your credentials. Our secure login ensures that your project data and resource configurations remain private and protected.

2. Projects Overview

Upon logging in, you are greeted by the Projects Overview dashboard. This is your central hub for Managing Projects. Here you can:

  • View all your active and archived allocation projects as cards.
  • Start quickly using Industry Templates.
  • Evaluate features using the Load Demo Data button.
  • Create new projects to solve new allocation puzzles.

3. Project Details

Clicking on a project opens the Project Details view. This area is organized into six tabs, representing the lifecycle of an allocation task:

Overview Tab

A summary of the project’s purpose, current status, and key metrics. This is your high-level dashboard for a specific allocation problem. Here you can Customize Labels, manage Privacy, and define Attributes.

Resources Tab

This is where you define what you are allocating to (e.g., Staff, Rooms, Vans).

Targets Tab

This is where you define what is being allocated (e.g., Tasks, Projects, Student Assignments).

  • Like resources, you can upload these via Excel or CSV.
  • Define the "Size" or weight of each target.

Rules Tab

The Dynamic Rule Engine. Here, you define the constraints that govern the allocation:

  • Matching requirements (e.g., "This task requires a staff member with X skill").
  • Exclusion rules (e.g., "This target cannot be assigned to that resource").
  • Capacity limits.

Solution Tab

The "Engine Room". Once your targets, resources, and rules are set:

  • Trigger the solver to find the optimal allocation.
  • Review the results in real-time.
  • Export the solution back to your preferred format.

History Tab

An audit log of all solver runs and changes made to the project. Review previous versions of your allocation to track improvements or changes over time.

4. User Menu

Located in the navigation bar, the User Menu allows you to:

  • Manage your account settings.
  • Configure organization-wide preferences.
  • Securely log out of the application.
